The event
Time your climb so summit night falls on the full moon: the glacier walls glow, the crater rim is visible without a torch, and sunrise arrives with the moon still setting behind you.
Every Kilimanjaro summit push starts around midnight, which means most climbers walk the hardest six hours of the trek inside a head-torch beam. On a full moon the mountain opens up instead — the Rebmann and Furtwängler glaciers hold the light, the scree slope reads as terrain rather than a tunnel, and morale on the switchbacks is measurably better.
It is a scheduling job, not a different climb. We count back from the full-moon date by the number of nights on your chosen route, pick the departure that lands summit night on or within a day of it, and confirm the trailhead. Lemosho and Machame are our first choices because their extra acclimatisation nights protect the timing if weather forces a rest day.
Full-moon departures are the first to sell out on every route, so the practical constraint is booking early rather than picking a month.
