Ngorongoro Crater Wildlife Safari
A compact but spectacular 3-day safari focused entirely on the Ngorongoro Crater — the world's largest intact volcanic caldera and home to over 25,000 large animals including the rare black rhino.
Overview
The Ngorongoro Crater Wildlife Safari is our most popular short-format tour, designed for travelers with limited time who want to experience one of Africa's most extraordinary wildlife destinations. The Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and often called 'Africa's Eden' — a natural amphitheater where an incredible density of wildlife thrives year-round.
Descending 600 meters from the crater rim to the floor, you'll enter a self-contained ecosystem where lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, and the elusive black rhino roam among soda lakes, swamps, and open grasslands. The crater's walls create a natural enclosure that keeps wildlife within, making game viewing exceptionally reliable.
This three-day itinerary includes a full day on the crater floor with picnic lunch, plus time to explore the surrounding highlands and visit a Maasai boma. Accommodation is in a comfortable lodge perched on the crater rim with breathtaking views.
Perfect as a standalone trip or as an extension to a longer safari or Kilimanjaro trek.
