Overview

The Tarangire Elephant Safari takes you into two of northern Tanzania's most underrated yet wildlife-rich national parks. Tarangire is often overshadowed by the Serengeti, but during the dry season it hosts one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife anywhere in Africa — with elephant herds numbering in the hundreds gathering along the Tarangire River.

The park's iconic baobab trees — some over 1,000 years old — create a landscape that feels almost otherworldly. Your game drives here focus on elephant behavior, predator activity, and the incredible birdlife that makes Tarangire a birder's paradise.

Lake Manyara, though compact, packs an extraordinary diversity of habitats into its boundaries: groundwater forests, open grasslands, and the alkaline lake itself, which attracts thousands of flamingos. It's also one of the few places in Tanzania where you can spot tree-climbing lions.

This four-day safari is ideal for travelers who want excellent wildlife viewing without the crowds of the more famous parks.

Guest Reviews

"Tarangire is so underrated! We saw more elephants here than anywhere else in Africa. The baobab trees are absolutely magnificent and our guide was incredibly knowledgeable."

"Great safari for the price. Lake Manyara was a pleasant surprise — the tree-climbing lions were elusive but we spotted a pride resting in an acacia. Highly recommend."
